The Attack on the Toms River Blockhouse
(May 19-20)

REVOLUTIONARY PLANS -- Re-enactors Tim Hart, kneeling left, Manahawkin and Peter Ferwerda, Barnegat pause at the Revolutionary War Canon on the lawn of the 1850 Courthouse in Toms River while making plans for the May 19 and 20 re-enactment of the attack on the Toms River Blockhouse. Standing behind them are representatives from the Cedar Bridge Military Academy, an after-school program for Ocean County youth who are from left, Sgt. 1st Class Steven T. Baryla, Barnegat, founder, Cadet Sgt. 1st Class Mike Spiecker, Manahawkin, Cadet Adjutant, and 1st Lt. Danielle E. Berndt, founder, Barnegat. Members of the academy will assist with the logistics of the colonial event at Huddy Park and at a Friday reception honoring local "actors" who appeared in a film about the attack produced three decades ago in celebration of the Nation's Bicentennial.
