INSIDE OR OUT, NATURE'S FUN AWAITS

INSIDE OR OUT, NATURE'S FUN AWAITS - Winter is an ideal time to explore what's inside the Morton A. Cooper Nature Center at the Cattus Island County Park, Toms River. Chief Park Naturalist Chris Claus is pictured with a computer provided by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School which is connected to a touch screen donated by the Toms River Daybreak Kiwanis. It features interactive nature games including visuals of the park which can be "colored" by youngsters, the Frog Bog and Owl Orchestra which teach animal call identity and "Touch a Butterfly" featuring local flyers. Freeholder John C. Bartlett, Jr., invites families to enjoy weekend programs which are highlighted with 10:30 am talks about the feeding habits of winter birds at the Bird Feeding Station, 1:30 pm turtle feedings, and 2 pm guided nature walks, where free coffee and hot cocoa are provided if the temperature dips below 40-degrees. The trails are open daily during daylight hours for hardy souls who like to explore the winter wilderness.
