CAN YOU MAKE IT?

CAN YOU MAKE IT? Last year more than 1,000 people visited all 11
lighthouses along the New Jersey coast to complete the annual challenge
sponsored by the New Jersey Lighthouse Society. Freeholder Joseph H.
Vicari who serves as tourism and library liaison arranged to have a display
which features mementos offered in past years along with lighthouse
paraphernalia in the lobby of the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County
Library. There is no charge to take the challenge and climbing the
lighthouses in not necessary to participate. This year's souvenir for the
Oct. 20 and 21 event features a puzzle which starts with 11 holes and forms
a collectible photograph when pieces featuring an antique photograph of
each lighthouse are inserted into it. Doreen Berson of Brick is chair of
the event which covers eight counties. Brochures with information and
directions are available at the display or at www.njlhs.org.
