OCEAN COUNTY HOSTS ANNUAL UKRAINE FLAG RAISING CEREMONY

TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders will host the annual Ukrainian Flag Raising Ceremony at noon, Monday, August 24, at the Ocean County Administration Building, 101 Hooper Avenue, here.

The ceremony, sponsored by the Ukrainian-American Club of Ocean County, Inc., marks the 18th anniversary of the liberation of Ukraine from the Soviet Union. On August 24, 1991, the Parliament of Ukraine proclaimed their independence and declared that only their Constitution and laws were valid in the territory of Ukraine.

“Ocean County has a number of residents of Ukrainian descent, and we are proud to host this day in admiration of their achievements and triumphs,” noted Freeholder Director, John C. Bartlett Jr.

The flag raising ceremony will take place on the front lawn of the Administration Building with the posting of the colors by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard, a greeting from the president of the Ukraine-American Club of Ocean County, recognition of club officers, and then the raising of the Ukraine flag and singing of God Bless America.
