Airports in Ocean County
Ocean County presently has one military and three public airfields. The
military airfield is at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station which has been
renamed as the Naval Engineering Center and is accessible at
certain times. The main airport is the "Robert J. Miller Air Park" also
known as the "Ocean County Airpark". This airport is supported by Ocean
County and is designated as MJX.
The Ocean County Air Park host's a number of "Air Shows" and is the home
of several antique and/or unique airplanes.
There are two smaller airports, (N12) is located in Lakewood and
the Eagle's Nest (31E) near West Creek.
Be advised that the Manahawkin airport no longer exists. If you try to

More than 100 planes currently are based at the Ocean County Airpark, located off Route
530 in Berkeley Township. Typical aircraft located at the airpark are single-engine, and twin-engine aircrafts.

Airplanes are housed in t-hangars at the airpark. Plans are underway to construct one building
that will house 12 new hangars. T-hangars can accommodate single engine planes and in some
instances twin engines. There are currently 28 t-hangars at the airpark. Also
there are 3 larger hangers used to house the Avionics dept, maintenance
and provide hanger space for various aircraft.

Ocean County Airpark is one of the state's premier airports set on 420 acres in the center
of Ocean County and surrounded by Pinelands.
The airpark won the FAA's national Airport Beautification Award in the 1960s.
In addition to the 55,000 annual takeoffs and landings, much of which is corporate
aviation, there are special users of the airpark including State Forest Fire aircraft, Civil Air
Patrol, Berlin Airlift Association and several local businesses.
The runway is approximately 6,000 feet long with a fully instrumented approach making
it accessible in all types of weather. Work to widen the runway from 80-feet to 100-feet in order
to meet FAA standards recently was completed.
In addition, Taxiway B was extended in order to provide access to the future t-hangar
building. T-Hangar space is in high demand in New Jersey and Ocean County maintains an
extensive waiting list.
For more information on the Ocean County Airpark, contact Stephen Childers, assistant
airpark manager at (732) 240-3520.
