The best source of specific fishing information a Shore area visitor has available is the neighborhood bait and tackle shop.These shops are traditionally operated by men and women who know how, when, where and with what to catch fish in their area. Most pride themselves on giving the beginner sound advice and hope the angler returns with fish. They not only sell the tackle and bait to catch fish, and offer advice on where and when to go fishing, but they keep abreast of fishing regulations and making their customers aware of the laws. A saltwater fishing license is not required in New Jersey, but there are many rules on sizes, numbers and seasons for certain species of fish. One does need a license to go clamming.
