PARENT/CHILD CONTRACT
I, ________________ have read this entire page with my mom/dad/guardian
______________________ and understand the rules of Internet use in my home.
If I should run into any
problems while surfing the web or while in a chat room I will always look to this
contract posted by my computer for help.
- Just as I would not give it to a stranger on the street, I will never give out my
home telephone number or address over the Internet.
- I will not tell a stranger on the Internet where I go to school or where my parents
work.
- I will always use a "nickname" in Chat Rooms when I can.
- I will never meet someone I have talked to on the Internet unless my parents and
only my parents say it is OK and are with me at the meeting.
- I will never send pictures of me or my family over the Internet without
my parents permission.
- I will not talk to anyone that makes me feel uncomfortable and I will tell my
parents right away if this happens.
- I will tell my parents if anyone is using threatening or bad language.
- I will always keep in mind while talking to people on the Internet that they are
strangers and some strangers can be bad.
- I will obey my parents rules about being on the Internet. I will not sign onto it
unless I have their permission. I will not download from it unless I have their
permission and I especially will not give out any information that is private and
could hurt me or my family.
I ________________ understand these rules and will obey them for my safety and
the safety of my family. If I ever feel uncomfortable while surfing the web I will
immediately tell my parents. I _______________________ will supervise my child while he
or she is on the web in order to make certain they are using this tool responsibly
and so they are out of harms way from strangers they may meet on the Internet.
- As a parent, I will be aware of the procedure of contacting my online provider
for advice should someone appear to be bothering my child.
- I will make time to sit with my child and learn what interests him or her while on
the Internet.
- I will react quickly by contacting my online service to change my email address
should someone appear to be sending inappropriate email to my child.
- As a parent, I will teach my child to be responsible while online and I will
take responsibility in making certain my child is educated in safety and courtesy
while on the Internet.
